Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Hillcrest Park.
Moore County Parks and Recreation encourages the use of all the facilities available at Hillcrest Park. Regardless of your age, there is something here for everyone! The following questions have been compiled to help when you plan your next visit or event. If you still have a question about something not listed, please call the park office at 910-947-2504 between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

 

  1. When is the park open? The park gates will be open April through October from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every day and November through March from 8:00 am to dusk every day.
     
  2. Is equipment available for use or rent? Items such as bats, balls, gloves, etc. are not available for use or rent. Nets however are provided for the volleyball courts.
     
  3. Can special events, such as birthday parties, family reunions, etc., be scheduled at the park? Special events can be scheduled by calling ahead to the park office to reserve the picnic shelter for a small fee. More details can be provided based on the type of event planned.
     
  4. Is my pet allowed in the park? Your pet is permitted within the park but not within the fenced area of the ball field complex. Pets must be leashed and supervised at all times. Please respect the feet and hands of others and clean up after your pet.
     
  5. Are coolers and outside food permitted?Coolers are permitted only in designated locations. Water fountains are located at various park areas, as well as within each dugout. Individual drinks and food items are permitted in the spectator area of the park.  
     
  6. Are lawn chairs permitted within the ball field complex? Due to limited bleacher seating, spectators are encouraged to bring their own chair.
     
  7. Are picnic areas nearby? There are several picnic tables and grills located next to the playground for public use. Personal grills will not be permitted in the park.
     
  8. Are bicycles allowed in the park? Bicycles may be ridden everywhere except within the fenced area of the ball field complex and on the landscaped grounds.
     
  9. Who do I call if my child leaves a baseball glove or another item at the park? On the weekends, the park office is closed. “Lost and found” items will be located at the concession stand or during the week call 910-947-2504 for information on lost items.
     
  10. Where do I go if someone needs first aid? First aid items and care can be provided at the concession stand or the park office during the weekdays and scheduled events.
     
  11. Is there a pay phone located in the park? There is not a pay phone on site. Emergency calls can be placed from the phone in the concession stand or at the park office, when open.
     
  12. Will the fields be available for practice or individual use? The ball fields are restricted to use during scheduled events.
     
  13. Is there anything else I should know about Hillcrest Park? Patrons of the park should know that alcohol and drugs are not permitted. The park is patrolled frequently by law enforcement agencies. Parking is restricted to designated area and all other 2 or 4-wheeled vehicles must be kept on the roadway. Show respect to other park patrons by disposing of trash and keeping personal music volumes at a low level.
