HIPAA Notice of Privacy
On April 14, 2003, the Moore County Public Health Department implemented the Federal Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule and HIPAA Privacy Policies of Moore County Government. HIPAA regulates how protected health information about an individual can be used and disclosed and the rights of an individual regarding their medical information and privacy. Read our Notice of Privacy.
A new web site has been launched by US DHHS in an effort to make it easier for consumers, health care providers, and others to get information about how the department enforces health information privacy rights and standards.
The Health Information Privacy web site describes comprehensive information about DHHS activities in enforcing the Privacy Rule, the results of those enforcement activities, and enforcement statistics showing which types of complaints are received most frequently and the types of entities most often required to take corrective action as a result of consumer complaints.
The web site includes information on:
-The Enforcement process
-How the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) Enforces the HIPAA Privacy Rule
-What OCR Considers During Intake & Review of a Complaint
-Enforcement Process Flow Chart
-Enforcement Highlights
-Privacy Rule Enforcement Highlights
