Beginning September 1, 2023, the Moore County Public Utilities- Highfalls water system will receive water using chlorine as the disinfectant instead of the normal chloramine disinfectant.
The water supplier to the Highfalls system, Chatham County Public Utilities, will temporarily suspend the addition of ammonia to its water treatment disinfection process. Chatham County will resume the addition of ammonia to the water treatment disinfection process on September 26, 2023.
