Vaccine & Testing

New Vaccination Appointment Process

Anyone age 5 or older is eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.  Appointments can be scheduled with the Health Department by calling 910-947-SHOT (7468).  Those who are ages 5 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can provide consent for vaccination.

Following the recent recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are now recommended for anyone age 12 and up.

You should get a booster if:

  • You are 12 or older, and
  • You received your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine at least FIVE months ago, or
  • You received your Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least TWO months ago.

The CDC also recommends a third dose of Pfizer for children 5 to 11 who have compromised immune systems.

Children and teens ages 12 and up can only receive the Pfizer booster, and parental consent is required. Adults 18 or older can get any brand.

Booster doses are free for everyone. No insurance or doctor's note is needed.

Third doses/boosters are currently by appointment only and no walk-ins will be accepted.  Appointments can be made by calling 910-947-SHOT (7468)

Appointment Line Hours of Operation (910-947-SHOT)

The Health Department's appointment line will remain open until all available appointment slots are filled each week.  The number of appointment slots will be based on the number of vaccine doses on hand.  Appointments will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Health Department will also accept walk-ins on vaccine clinic days which are currently being held every Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:15 am and from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
