The Moore County Health Department in conjunction with Southern Pines Recreation and Parks will be hosting a face mask distribution on Saturday August 15th. Masks will be distributed from 12:30PM – 3:00pm at the Southern Pines Pool Park & Splash Pad located at 730 S Henley St in Southern Pines.
The Moore County Board of Commissioners requests applications from citizens interested in filling the licensed veterinarian position, currently vacant, on the Moore County Board of Health. Additionally, the Board requests applications for the licensed optometrist position, available August 1, 2020.
The Board of Health is charged with protecting and promoting public health and serving as the policy-making, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Moore County Health Department. The Board holds six regular meetings per year and special called meetings as needed. Terms of service are three years.
Interested Moore County residents who hold the required licensure may apply for these positions or obtain more information by visiting the County website at www.moorecountync.gov or by contacting the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners at 910-947-6304 or [email protected]. Applications are accepted continuously.
The Moore County Board of Commissioners will convene for a Special Meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 1:30pm in the Commissioners Meeting Room located on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse, One Courthouse Square, Carthage, NC. The meeting will also be livestreamed HERE, and the recording will be posted online subsequently. There will be no public comment period.
Social distancing measures will be observed and a maximum of 31 observers will be accommodated in the meeting room. Meeting attendees are asked to adhere to the three Ws: WEAR a cloth face covering, WAIT at least 6 feet apart and avoid close contact, and WASH your hands often or use hand sanitizer.

The commissioners will also convene as the East Moore Water District Board of Directors for a special meeting at 10:15am on Tuesday. That meeting packet is available HERE, and the meeting access information is the same as above for the regular meeting.
The commissioners will hold the public hearing regarding the proposed FY 21 budget for the East Moore Water District during the EMWD special meeting at 10:15am. The commissioners will hold their regular 30 minute public comment period at the beginning of their regular meeting at 10:30am. Later during the 10:30am regular meeting, they will hold the public hearing regarding the proposed FY 21 budget for the County. Instructions for participation in each of these follows:

* Written comments for the EMWD budget public hearing are accepted until noon on Wednesday, June 17th, but those received after 8:30am on Tuesday, June 16th (and by noon on June 17th) will be read into the record when the Board convenes in a special meeting to adopt the budget on a later date. Comments submitted between 8:30am on Tuesday, June 16th and 12:00pm on Wednesday, June 17th should also be submitted to the Clerk at [email protected] or online HERE.
