Cheerleading

 


CHEERLEADING REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Cheerleaders will cheer for the Moore County Parks and Recreation youth basketball program.  The Youth Basketball Program games start in December.
Cost for 2016-2017 Cheerleading Is $65 and includes cheerleading uniform (top, skirt, and briefs) and pom poms.

Basketball



Leagues start at age 5 and run through age 12.
Age cut off date is October 16th 2016

5-6 Basketball is Co-Ed. Ages 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 all
have a boys and girls league.

Registration will always be taken at the Recreation Office - Mondays - Fridays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

**Deadline for 5-6, 7-8, Leagues is Friday, October 14th, 2016**
 
**Deadline for the 9-10, 11-12 Boys and Girls League is Friday, November 18th, 2016**

Age cut off date is October 16th, 2016.

5-6, 7-8,  Year Old leagues will start playing games in December on Mondays and Saturdays starting on Saturday December 3rd and then play Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays in January. Practice begins in November

Baseball



Dixie Youth Baseball Program:

Age as of May 1, 2016
**If you have not participated in any Moore County Athletics before, Proof of age is required**

Programs:

9 year old Baseball, 10 year old Baseball, & 11-12 year old O-Zone Baseball
Evaluation Date for 11-12 Baseball: Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 at 6pm, Hillcrest Park Field #1(Rain Date is Thursday, March 3rd)

Registration Deadline: February 12, 2016
Cost: $30 ($40 if space available after deadline)

9 year old Baseball and 10 year old Baseball
Pitching distance is forty-three (43) feet in our 9 yr old baseball program and forty-six (46) feet in our 10 yr old baseball program. Sixty (60) feet bases and players cannot steal bases until ball reaches home plate. All bats (2 ¼ inch barrel) used in league play must be on the 2016 Approved bat List. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, alternate some Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Hillcrest Park.

11-12 year old O-Zone Baseball
In this league teams will be formed using a draft procedure. All players will be evaluated and drafted to a team.

Evaluation date is Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 at 6pm Field #1 Hillcrest Park. Rain date is Thursday, March 3rd 6pm Hillcrest Park

All practices will be weekdays at Hillcrest Park. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, alternate some Wednesdays, and Thursday unless inclement weather cause teams to play on a different day.

O-Zone rules: Pitching Distance is fifty (50) feet. Pitchers are limited to six (6) innings pitched per week. Pitchers pitching four (4) or more innings must have thirty-six (36) hours rest before being allowed to pitch again. Base runners may attempt to steal at anytime. Pitchers will be called for “Balks” and may attempt to pick runners off of bases. Bases will be set at seventy (70) feet. Big barrel bats with a length not to exceed 33 inches and a barrel diameter no more than 2 5/8 inches are approved for play in the O-Zone league. 2 ¼ inch barrel bats can be used in the O-Zone league but must be on the 2016 Approved Bat List for Dixie Youth Baseball.

Players are introduced to the game of Baseball with priority towards fundamentals and Sportsmanship. Teams use a continuous batting order and every player plays in the field on defense. Games are played using a T-Ball which is a safety baseball.

7-8 Coach Pitch Baseball & Softball
Coaches pitch to the players and the players are taught fundamentals and sportsmanship. Teams use a continuous batting order, play six infielders and five outfielders on defense.

Soccer Sessions: Each Soccer session will consist of 45 minutes of instruction on soccer skills taught by the Athletic Club of the Sandhills. After a short break there will be 45 minutes of scrimmages. There are no teams. Each day for scrimmages, participants that are present will split up for scrimmage games. 
 
 
Soccer sessions will begin on Saturday, March 5th.

In case of a rain out of one of these days above, 
it will be rescheduled for Saturday, April 9th.

What to wear? Your registration covers the cost of your child a participation shirt. You will get the soccer shirt on the first day.  Players may wear any other clothing for the soccer instruction. Please dress according to the weather. Cleats are not required but Shin Guards are REQUIRED for participation!  Bring your own soccer ball if you would like to!  All ages participating will be using a size 3 soccer ball.

Program only Runs on Saturdays through Saturday, May 2nd  
This session is only for intermediate or advance players only.
 
Summer Tennis 2016 - $40
 
This session begins Sunday, June 12th, 2016 
at 4:00 p.m.
 
We will also meet Monday evenings beginning Monday,June 13th at 6:00 p.m.
 
 
This is the only session that accepts beginner tennis players.

The season runs from Sunday, June 12th through end of July.

 
Fall Tennis 2016 - $20
 
Begins - Saturday, August 6th at 9:00 AM

Co-Ed Kickball

NEW PROGRAM!

Form your own team and come out and play kickball!  Teams must have a minimum of 10 players.  Each individual must sign up.

All participants must be 18 years of age to participate. 16 and 17 year olds may participate with written permission of parent or gaurdian. 

All Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays during August and September and all games will be played at Hillcrest Park.

Registration Fee:  $30       Out of County Fee: $40

If enough individuals sign up that do not have a team, a team will be formed of those individuals
Each team is responsible for there own jerseys!
**Jerseys must have a number on the front and back!**

Senior Games in the Pines!


WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Participants must turn 50 during the calendar year that the senior games in being played.

Each spring, thousands of people enjoy participating in a Local Senior Games in North Carolina. The qualifiers are invited to participate each fall in the Senior Games State Finals held in Raleigh. Every two years, the State Finals winners qualify to represent North Carolina at the National Senior Games. State Finals 2014 is a National Qualifying event.

Referee and Umpire

 

 

Interested in being an umpire or referee for basketball, baseball, softball, or flag football? 

 

Many people forget about how important it is to have a good referee or umpire.  They control the game by making everyone play by the rules.

 

Sound fun and interesting?  You will also get paid between $15.76 and $31.52 per game!  Price depends on age level and sport.
