Youth Cheerleading

Cheerleading 2018-2019

MCPR Cheerleading Debuts EARLIER Registration and Fitting Dates!!!

Registration Open Until August 31st 2018

For ages 5-12

Registration Fee:  $60.00       MCPR will provide:  Uniforms (Top and Skirt) as well as Pom Poms and Medal.

Coaches will take uniform sizes at scheduled fittings the week of September 17th  ( Dates TBA)

Participants MUST ATTEND SCHEDULED FITTING DAY to get uniform sizes.

All uniform orders are final.  Once orders are placed, reorders and exchanges will NOT be made.

Parents will be responsible for providing any garments to be worn under the uniform.

 

 
 
 

Basketball



Leagues start at age 5 and run through age 12.
Age cut off date is October 16th 2018

5-6 Basketball is Co-Ed. Ages 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 all
have a boys and girls league.

Registration will always be taken at the Recreation Office - Mondays - Fridays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

**Deadline for 5-6, 7-8, Leagues is Friday, October 12th, 2018**
 
**Deadline for the 9-10, 11-12 Boys and Girls League is Friday, November 16th, 2018**

Age cut off date is October 16th, 2018.

5-6, 7-8,  Year Old leagues will start playing games in December on Mondays and Saturdays starting on Saturday December 2nd and then play Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays in January. Practice begins in November

9-10 ,11-12  Year old leagues will start playing games January 16th and run through February playing on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays! Practices begin in December. All teams will be formed using draft procedures.

Baseball



Dixie Youth Baseball Program:

MCPR will follow these bat rules and requirements for the 9-10 and 11-12 yr old baseball leaugues starting in 2019.
Age as of May 1, 2019
**If you have not participated in any Moore County Athletics before, Proof of age is required**

Programs:
9-10 year old Baseball, & 11-12 year old O-Zone Baseball

9-10 year old Baseball
Pitching distance is forty-six (46) feet in our 9-10 yr old baseball program. Sixty (60) feet bases and players cannot steal bases until ball reaches home plate.  See Dixie Youth Baseball 2019 bat rules.  All bats must conform to the 2019 Dixie Youth Baseball new rule and must have a USA Baseball stamp on the handle. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays at Hillcrest Park.  Rain dates will be made up on Wednesdays.

11-12 year old O-Zone Baseball
In this league teams will be formed using a draft procedure. All players will be evaluated and drafted to a team.

Evaluation date Monday February 25th, 2019 6:00 PM .  Rain date Tuesday February 26th at 6:00 PM
All practices will be weekdays at Hillcrest Park. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Rain outs will be made up on Wednesdays.

O-Zone rules: Pitching Distance is fifty (50) feet. Pitchers are limited to six (6) innings pitched per week. Pitchers pitching four (4) or more innings must have thirty-six (36) hours rest before being allowed to pitch again. Base runners may attempt to steal at anytime. Pitchers will be called for “Balks” and may attempt to pick runners off of bases. Bases will be set at seventy (70) feet. Big barrel bats with a length not to exceed 33 inches and a barrel diameter no more than 2 5/8 inches are approved for play in the O-Zone league.  All bats must conform to the 2018 Dixie Youth Baseball new rule and must have a USA Baseball stamp on the handle.

Registration Deadline : Friday Febuary 8th, 2019

  • Leagues are for ages 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15

  • 11-12 Yr Old Teams will be formed using draft procedures. All participants regardless of school attending or home address will be evaluated and place on a team. Any participants that are unable to attend evaluation will be selected after the draft. All games and practices will be at Hillcrest Park.
  • Evaluation Date for all players will be at 6pm Hillcrest Park Field #2 Thursday, February 28th. Rain Date : Monday,March 4th 6pm field #2.

  • All games will be played at Hillcrest Park
  • Game times will be 5:45pm and 7:30pm and will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Hillcrest Park. Rain outs will be played on Wednesdays.

Soccer sessions will begin on Saturday, March 2nd.

In case of a rain out of one of these days above, 
it will be rescheduled for Saturday, March 30th.
 
Times:  (1) 5-6 Year old 9:30 A.M.
             (2) 5-6 Year old 10:30 A.M.
             (3) 7-8 Year Old 11:30 A.M.
Each Session contains 30 Minutes of instruction and 30 min. of scrimmage.
 
What to wear? Your registration covers the cost of your child a participation shirt. You will get the soccer shirt on the first day.  Players may wear any other clothing for the soccer instruction. Please dress according to the weather. Cleats are not required but Shin Guards are REQUIRED for participation!  Bring your own soccer ball if you would like to!  All ages participating will be using a size 3 soccer ball.

2019 Tennis Programs

All Tennis Players must be between the ages of 9-18 years old

 

Spring Tennis 2019 - $20

Registration Begins: January 2019.  Sessions begin - Saturday, February 2nd at 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

Program only Runs on Saturdays through Saturday, May 4th  

This session is only for intermediate or advance players only.

 

Summer Tennis 2019  $40

*Summer session is the only session that beginner/new tennis players are accepted*

 Registration Begins April 2019

Sessions for beginners through middle school players begins Sunday June 2nd at Union Pines High School at 4:00 p.m. till 5:45 p.m.                                                                                       

  ** Sessions may be shortened for younger players if heat is extreme.

 

High school age sessions begin Sunday, June 16th 2018 at Union Pines High School 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Summer Session runs through July 21, 2019.

 

Fall Tennis 2019 - $20

Registration Begins July 2019

Begins - Saturday, August 3rd at 9:00 AM to 11am

Program only Runs on Saturdays until  December.

This session is only for intermediate or advance players.

**50+ Basketball league games will be played at Farmlife Elementary Gym on Monday and Wednesday Nights!**

Form your own teams!
A list of team members and team color must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation office before the registration deadline!
If enough individuals sign up that do not have a team, a team will be formed of those individuals
Each team is responsible for there own jerseys!
**Jerseys must have a number on the front and back!**

Senior Games in the Pines!


WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Participants must turn 50 during the calendar year that the senior games in being played.

Each spring, thousands of people enjoy participating in a Local Senior Games in North Carolina. The qualifiers are invited to participate each fall in the Senior Games State Finals held in Raleigh. Every two years, the State Finals winners qualify to represent North Carolina at the National Senior Games. State Finals 2014 is a National Qualifying event.

Moore County Parks and Recreation uses volunteer coaches in Baseball, Softball, Flag Football, Basketball, and Cheerleading. 

 

All coaches are vital to our programs and would not be the same without them!

Referee and Umpire

 

 

Interested in being an umpire or referee for basketball, baseball, softball, or flag football? 

 

Many people forget about how important it is to have a good referee or umpire.  They control the game by making everyone play by the rules.

 

Sound fun and interesting?  You will also get paid between $16.08 and $32.16 per game!  Price depends on age level and sport.
