What is MCTS?

Moore County Transportation Services provides transportation services to Moore County Citizens in three ways.

  1. First we provide services for the Moore County Department of Social Services, Moore County Department of Aging, Monarch, and Kingswood Nursing Home. If you are client of one of these organizations please contact them for further details.
  2. Second we provide services through a token program that will transport Moore County Citizens to Medical, Education, or Work related appointments.
  3. Third we provide a deviated fixed route in the Southern Pines and Aberdeen area also known as the A Pines Line. A current schdule can be obtained by clicking on the logo directly below the operting hours at the top of the screen.

How Do I Schedule a Trip?

Between the Hours

8:00am - 5:00pm

  • Call the MCTS Administrative Office, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at (910) 947-3389.
  • All reservations must be scheduled at least two business days before the appointment. Monday reservations should be called in on Thursday. MCTS does not accept same day requests for transportation.
  • Please be ready with your name (or the name of the person you are scheduling for); the pickup address; phone number; the date of the appointment; the destination name, address, and phone number; and the time of the appointment.
  • The Dispatcher will then let you know that your reservation with MCTS has been scheduled.
  • Also, be aware that you need to be ready for pick up as early as one and a half hours prior to your appointment time (excluding out of county trips).

  • Call the MCTS Administrative Office, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at (910) 947-3389.
  • Cancellations must be received by MCTS dispatch at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick up to avoid a No-Show charge.
    • Cancellations messages must be given to the Dispatcher during normal business hours or a message must be left on the after hours answering machine.

 

Things You Need To Know

  • Seat belts must be worn at all times by ALL PASSENGERS.
  • Children under the age of 8 and/or less than 80 pound of weight are required to be transported in a proper child safety seat.
  • Child safety seats must be provided by the Parent/Guardian.
  • Children age 12 and under may ride only if accompanied by an adult guardian or other authorized adult.
  • Passengers are not allowed to get off the vehicle at any location other than their scheduled destination.
  • All MCTS vehicles are tobacco free. Smoking, chewing or other use of tobacco products is prohibited.
  • No eating or drinking is allowed on vehicles except for medical reasons

Special Considerations

  • MCTS provides passengers with Curb-to-Curb service.
  • Drivers assist passengers on and off the vehicles only.
  • Passengers who need assistance to and from the vehicle must make arrangements with someone to assist them beyond boarding and exiting the vehicle.
  • MCTS does not provide aides and does not provide Door-to-Door service.
 
  • MCTS observes the Moore County Holiday schedule and transportation services are not provided on those days.

Good judgment will be used to limit or cancel scheduled trips when hazardous road conditions are present in order to ensure the safety of all passengers and drivers.

Transportation Advisory Board

The purpose of the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) is to assist the Moore County Transportation Services (hereinafter MCTS) in accomplishing its stated goal to provide safe and efficient transportation to the citizens of Moore County and promote community support for and participation in the MCTS department. The TAB functions include:
  • Making recommendations to the Moore County Board of Commissioners regarding the MCTS system;
  • Overseeing transportation for the clients of the human service oriented agencies located in Moore County in order to fulfill the County’s fiduciary responsibilities to citizens by the most effective means;
  • To provide advice and support to the MCTS Director regarding policy, planning and development of operational procedures and practices consistent with program policies.
