Moore County Power Outage
For Release # 5 Immediate
- Moore County Governmental Offices will be operating on a normal schedule for Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
- State of Emergency curfew will expire at 5:00 am on Thursday, December 8, 2022.
- Moore County shelter will be closing at 12:00pm on Thursday, December 8, 2022, located at Moore County Sports Complex - Recreation Center 155 Hillcrest Park Lane, Carthage NC 28327.
- Shower/Laundry Units at First Baptist Church Aberdeen, 700 N. Sandhills Blvd., Aberdeen, and First Baptist Church Pinehurst, 7373 NC-211, West End will be standing down by noon on Thursday December 8th.
- Meals offered by Baptist on Mission from 12:30 pm to 2:30pm with pick up site only at the following locations: Hillcrest Sports Complex: 155 Hillcrest Park Lane, Carthage, and Morganton Sports Complex at 100 Fire Lane, Southern Pines will offer meals on Thursday December 8th and will stand down after those meals have been served.
- Meals offered by Baptist on Mission from 12:30 pm to 2:30pm located at 503 North Sandhills Blvd., Aberdeen will not be serving meals Thursday, December 8, 2022.

Moore County to Share Updates on Power Outage at 4 p.m. News Conference
CARTHAGE, NC – Officials with Moore County government will hold a news conference at 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2022 to update the public on the schedule to restore electricity to thousands of Moore County residents, as well as any recent developments in the criminal investigation into the damage to the substations and updates from other the county government agencies.
The news conference will take place in the community room on level 2 of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, in the Rick Rhyne Public Safety Center at 302 S. McNeill St. in Carthage. Media who plan to attend need to arrive by 3 p.m. to set up.
Moore County will also livestream the news conference on the Moore County Public Safety Facebook page and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. The livestream is for viewing only. There will not be an opportunity for viewers to ask the speakers questions via Facebook chat.
The news conference will include representatives from:
- Moore County Government
- Moore County Sheriff’s Office
- Duke Energy
- Moore County Public Schools
A State of Emergency remains in effect for Moore County. A curfew is imposed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until the State of Emergency is rescinded. The county continues to operate a shelter at the Moore County Sports Complex - Recreation Center, located at 155 Hillcrest Park Lane, Carthage, NC.

Moore County Power Outage - Press Release #1
Moore County has issued a State of Emergency as related to Mass Power Outage in Moore County due to a criminal incident. There will be a countywide curfew enacted from 9:00pm to 5:00 am on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Moore County will be opening a shelter at 4:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2022. The location will be at the Moore County Sports Complex - Recreation Center 155 Hillcrest Park Lane, Carthage NC 28327. For more information you can call 910-947-6317.
Moore County Governmental Offices schedule for:
- Moore County Board of Commissioners Meetings schedule for Monday, December 5, 2022, at 9:00 am and 10:30 am will take place as scheduled in the historic courthouse.
- Moore County Transportation Services will operate to transport clients scheduled for dialysis, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments only.
- All other Moore County Operations are cancelled with a plan to expand operations that will function on Tuesday 12/6/2022.
Home Safety:
- Never leave a fireplace unattended unless its embers are completely extinguished. Also consider using a glass or metal fire screen to catch sparks and rolling logs, and never store flammable liquids near sources of heat.
- Know how to use your generator. Generators should be placed in an open and ventilated area. They should never be operated inside a home—including spaces like the basement and garage—due to the danger of inhaling carbon monoxide fumes.
- Never touch a downed power line. Warn others to stay away and alert your electric cooperative.
