Minimum Requirements for Employment: 

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Highschool Diploma from an accredited high school or GED
  • Valid Driver's License 
  • Applicants with prior military service must provide a DD-214
  • Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony, a crime for which the punishment could have been imprisonment for more than two years, or convicted of certain misdemeanor crimes
  • Sheriff's Deputy and Bailiff applicants must provide a Law Enforcement certificate issued by the state of North Carolina

Deputy Sheriff's Bailiff (Part-Time)

  • Provide security and maintain order in the courtrooms 
  • Maintain courthouse entrance checkpoints 
  • Guard juries and enforce rules of the courts
  • Open/Close court by announcing the judges' arrival/departure
