Expanding Broadband in Moore County

Latest News

The expansion of broadband in the County of Moore continues through the Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) Grant, Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) Grant, Reconnect Grant, and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund.    

In May 2025 Governor Josh Stein awarded funding for additional high-speed internet projects in 22 North Carolina Counties in the Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program.  This identified an additional 1,573 home and business locations in Moore County that will soon have high-speed internet through Brightspeed.   

Then in June 2025, Governor Josh Stein awarded funding for additional high-speed internet project to an additional 26 North Carolina Counties in the Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program.  The latest includes awarding Windstream North Carolina, LLS to bring high-speed internet service to an additional 481 home and business locations in Southern Moore County. 

The CAB funding has identified an additional total of 2,054 household and business locations that high-speed internet service is coming to.

The NC Broadband Awards Dashboard (NC_Broadband_Award_Dashboard)  shares that NCDIT has awarded $12,625,713.40 in projects that identifies 6,402 household locations and 589 business locations  throughout Moore County that broadband service is being built to.  Visit the NC Broadband Awards Dashboard and see if your location has been identified in the CAB or NC GREAT grants.   

Please keep in mind that if a service map identifies broadband coming to your area and your address is not listed when searching a grant map, it does not mean broadband service will not be available to you.    

Several providers have confirmed broadband availably to other locations in their build area.  Additionally, providers are continuing to grow their service area utilizing non-grant funds.
