[ARCHIVED] Hurricane Relief Resources for Transylvania County, NC

Transylvannia

During a Regular Meeting held Monday, December 2, 2024, the Moore County Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution Requesting Moore County Citizens Consider Assisting Transylvania County Citizens with Specific Resources in Response to Hurricane Helene.

Transylvania County was significantly impacted by Helene in September 2024, and on November 6, 2024, the Moore County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution “adopting” Transylvania County to assist with disaster recovery efforts.  Subsequent communications with Transylvania County officials have identified some specific needs that Moore County citizens may be able to assist with, including cold weather resources, housing assistance, and debris removal.

A collection site for donated cold weather resources to be delivered to Transylvania County has been established at New Covenant Fellowship Church, 1305 Hulsey Road, Carthage, NC 28327.  Donations will be accepted from 8:30am – 4:00pm on Thursday, December 12, Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, 2024.  Requested resources include coats and boots (all sizes and genders), blankets, and small electric or propane heaters or generators.  If donating a propane heater, please also provide a carbon monoxide detector.  Only new items will be accepted.

Additionally, citizens wishing to offer housing or debris removal assistance may indicate their available resources via the following form Transylvania County Needs Request.  If unable to complete the form online, citizens may call 910-947-4361 to speak with Tax Customer Service staff for assistance.
