Plan Review & Permits
A plan review shall be performed and approval granted prior to the construction and operation of any new or remodeled establishment that North Carolina General Statutes mandate. Performing construction activities prior to health department review and approval may result in the removal of such work and potential monetary losses. Any equipment installed prior to approval has no guarantee of being allowed.
Buying an Existing Facility
Permits do not transfer at the sale of a business. You may be eligible for a transitional permit; however, staff must evaluate each situation. To save time and money, contact Moore County Environmental Health before you buy, build or remodel to determine all applicable requirements.
Opening a New Facility
Applications and fees must be submitted and paid to Moore County Environmental Health regardless of the municipality in which you are building. Submission of plans to the local building inspections jurisdiction does not notify or correspond to MCEH. Moore County Environmental Health is not responsible for any monetary losses or delayed openings due to necessary applications not being submitted prior to construction. If you are a caterer looking to work out of a permitted facility, please complete and submit the "Shared Kitchen-Secondary" application below.
